Video: TRENT REZNOR Interviewed On CBC's 'Q'

Musician, composer and artist Trent Reznor (NINE INCH NAILS) recently joined Jian Ghomeshi of CBC's cultural affairs show "Q" for a feature conversation about Reznor's new band HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS and their record "Welcome Oblivion", along with Trent's work on "The Social Network", their shared love of David Bowie, and more. Nearly four years after NINE INCH NAILS played the final show of its "Wave Goodbye" tour in Los Angeles on September 10, 2009, Trent Reznor returned to the stage with his new act HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS on April 10 in Pomona, California. According to Billboard, the gig at the Fox Theater was the first-ever by the group, which features Reznor's wife Mariqueen Maandig Reznor on lead vocals.

Reznor actually provided the first vocals of the night on the initial verse of opening number "The Wake-Up", with the group playing behind a beaded curtain as video projections and changing light designs swirled behind and around them. Maandig handled the bulk of the singing while her husband played guitar and keyboards.

Reznor told The Pulse Of Radio what makes playing in HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS different for him than NINE INCH NAILS. "What I enjoy about it is it's not my personality in the forefront," he said. "I can stand on the side, and I can do a lot of the things that interest me, but I don't have to be the guy standing in the front with a light on him. I'm not saying that out of laziness, it's just I'm aware of my own personality getting in the way sometimes, and I'm enjoying playing a more support role for a while."

The 14-song set was drawn from the band's debut "An Omen" EP as well as its full-length debut, "Welcome Oblivion", which arrived last month.

The show served as a warm-up before HOW TO DESTROY ANGELS played in front of much larger crowds this past weekend at the Coachella Festival in Indio, California.

Reznor also announced earlier this year that he was assembling a new lineup of NINE INCH NAILS for touring and possibly recording. The band is confirmed to appear at Lollapalooza this August as well as several European festivals, with a full U.S. arena tour planned for this fall.
